BlackBerry yesterday announced the availability of limited edition BlackBerry Passport Silver in the Middle East.

The device is available at physical and online retail stores in the UAE, including Axiom Telecom, select Etisalat Business Centres and outlets, Sharaf DG, Jumbo Electronics, Plug-Ins Electronics, Jackys Electronics, Géant, Virgin megastore and Tecbuy Electronics starting from Dh1,999. It is also available in the BlackBerry Store in the Dubai Mall.

The new smartphone is also available in Saudi Arabia through Axiom Telecom’s retail stores and online channels starting at SAR1,999.

The new smartphone has a silver stainless steel frame, rounded corners and diamond weave.

BlackBerry launched the device globally in mid-August, and has made it available in the region within two weeks of that.

The Middle East will carry the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition in limited quantities, the smartphone manufacturer had then said in a media statement, hinting that the device won’t be commonly available like its older cousin.

Besides the features already available in the Passport, the new BlackBerry smartphone comes with an updated QWERTY touch-enabled keyboard, additional battery power, and BlackBerry 10 OS 10.3.2.

In a statement, Scott Wenger, Global Head of Design at BlackBerry, said at that time: “We strive to deliver products that combine cutting-edge technology with purposeful, globally recognised design, and the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition is the latest manifestation of this vision.”

“It brings together BlackBerry’s latest OS platform, enhanced productivity features, and a refined industrial design based on customer and user feedback to deliver an unmatched experience for professionals who value precision and focus.”
